1. Beneficial bacteria & unwanted bacteria

 

Having a large number of diverse, beneficial bacteria is one of biggest factors in maintaining optimal gut health. A high level of bacterial diversity has been shown to reduce the risk of digestive symptoms, whilst a lower level of diversity has been linked with symptoms such as constipation, bloating and diarrhoea, due to a lack of functional and protective gut bacteria. Your report will showcase each organisms in percentage in comparison with our ideal percentage.

2. Unwanted production of other gas and chemicals

Unbalanced compounds such as Hydrogen Sulphide is related to Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Obesity. Histamine is well known chemical to cause food allergies, IBS, asthma and other negative impact on our health. 

3. Understand the influence on your health

Breaking down the fibre from your meals, creating compounds known as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that help keep your gut healthy. We will assess by each type of SCFAs and assess if your body is capable to produce sufficient amount. Unfortunately "flooding" probiotics won't improve your gut health unless your gut environment is ready to "feed" good bactria.

How long does it take to receive my reusults?


You will receive your results between 2-4 weeks.




What does 'Diversity" mean?


Diversity is the measure of both the number of different types and the amount of bacterial species in the sample, i.e. it encompasses both richness and evenness. A highly diverse sample would contain a large number of different bacterial species (high richness), with a relatively equal amount of each species (high evenness). While low microbial diversity is often associated with poor health, high microbial diversity is associated with good health. A varied diet rich in plant-based, fibrecontaining foods, such as fruits, vegetables, wholegrains and nuts, is associated with increased microbial diversity.




Do I need to stop my medication and supplements?


No, there is no need to stop taking probiotics or other supplements before the test, as these are part of your regular habits and will reflect their “normal” microbiome. Antibiotic use however, is one exception to the rule, as it does affect the microbiome. It is advised that testing should be conducted at least 2 weeks after antibiotic use, once any acute symptoms have resolved.
